COUNSELLOR & PSYCHOTHERAPIST NOTTINGHAM
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in Nottingham and believe passionately in the value of counselling and therapy.
Training & Qualifications
After obtaining a Certificate in Counselling Skills in 2004, I later went on to gain an MA in Humanistic Counselling (Distinction) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma Studies (Merit), both from the University of Nottingham.
I have an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. I also have a Clinical Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Gestalt), both from the Metanoia Institute in London.
I am available to offer relationship counselling. I undertook my initial couples training with the Metanoia Institute in London and later pursued this as a specialism by completing a Postgraduate Certificate and a Postgraduate Diploma in Couple Work.
I have also undertaken training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
I am registered as a psychotherapist with the UKCP -
I hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
I have several years of experience of working therapeutically both short-
I worked for several years in the voluntary sector at Nottingham Counselling Service, first as a volunteer individual counsellor and later as a couple counsellor and assessor.
I have worked as a volunteer on a helpline supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse and have been a trustee of a rape and sexual abuse support centre. I have also worked as a legal advice volunteer in a Citizens’ Advice Bureau and in a law centre.
In my previous career as a solicitor I have extensive private sector legal experience of helping people through separation, divorce and bereavement.
Since 2016 I have been an assistant editor of the British Gestalt Journal and I was a member of the editorial board of the Gestalt Therapy Book Series between 2018 and 2020. I am also a member of the UK Association of Gestalt Practitioners (UKAGP), the European Association for Gestalt Therapy and the Metanoia Institute.
I can offer personal therapy to trainee counsellors or psychotherapists studying at diploma, undergraduate degree or master's level.
I am fully committed to ethical practice and to continuing and enhancing my personal and professional development.
